Tim Drees
Profile
Tim Drees advises on all legal matters relating to IT, the data economy, data protection, and e-commerce. He supports mandates from, among others, the IT and healthcare sectors, the manufacturing industry, the start-up scene, as well as academia and research, with a focus on complex contracts in software projects, regulation of digital medical devices, copyright law, and failing IT projects. His expertise also includes advising on how to handle data subject access requests, R&D agreements, and the new European regulation of digital law, including artificial intelligence.
During his legal traineeship in Karlsruhe, he completed placements including in the telematics SME sector and in intellectual property, data protection, and unfair competition law. Tim Drees has been with Vogel & Partner since 2025. Previously, he worked for several years as in-house counsel for major research institutions in Karlsruhe and Berlin; in the latter role, he also served as Data Protection Officer. In 2021, Tim Drees successfully completed the specialist lawyer course in IT law.
